Custom Shortcuts
TimeSavers
All Acrobat features defined in FrameMaker, distilled with
TimeSavers:
- PDF document
title set automatically from top bookmark;
Author, Copyright Status, Notice text & Info URL set from
the Defaults tab (TimeSavers 5.0; PDF: 90K; source
FM file)
- Web links in PDFs opening a new browser window (TimeSavers
5.0): all
web links (PDF: 82K, native FM hypertext
markers) or individual
web links (PDF: 75K, custom hypertext markers)
- Opening a target PDF in
a new window (Acrobat/Reader) -- zip
file (86K) includes PDFs and source .fm
files
- FrameMaker cross-references converted automatically to underlined links
(PDF: 60K). Underlines are visible
on-screen but not printed (requires Acrobat/Reader 6 or higher).
- Links
to specific pages in other PDFs (PDF: 52K), defined
with the ~PageLink shortcut: opening an external PDF (PDF: 87K, not
authored with FrameMaker and without named destinations) at
the specified page, in same window or a new window
- Acrobat
named actions ("execute menu item") links/bookmarks
defined in FrameMaker through TimeSavers shortcuts (PDF:
42K)
- Web links/bookmarks:
e-mail messages, web/ftp, movies (PDF: 49K);
zip file (56K)
includes PDF, source .fm file and referenced text messages (~MailtoLink
and ~MailtoBmk TimeSavers shortcuts provide automatic filtering
of special characters; support for longer/formatted messages)
- Defining Acrobat messages
(~ClickMsg shortcut) (PDF: 45K; source FM6:
34K). Note: shortcuts can be adjusted to include standard
icons (Error, Warning, Question, Info); custom titles are supported
when the PDF is viewed with Acrobat/Reader 6 or higher
- Using a "picture viewer" to display optimal screen
captures (links in text,
PDF: 53K, point to screens, PDF: 47K).
When displayed in Acrobat/Reader (not through a web browser),
screen captures are displayed in a separate window (overriding
the "Open Cross-Document Links in Same Window" local
preference). Also demonstrates various TimeSavers shortcuts for
Acrobat/JavaScript actions.
