Non-Breaking Hyphen Does Not Appear In PDF Bookmarks

Affects: FrameMaker 7.0p492

Description:

FM7.0p492 does not transfer the non-breaking hyphen to the bookmark text (treating it like the neighboring discretionary hyphen and suppress hyphenation char).

Workaround:

Manually edit the bookmark text in Acrobat, or replace non-breaking hyphens with regular hyphens in FrameMaker's headings

Available Fixes:

Apply the FM7.0p576 patch.

Additional Info:

While in many documents non-breaking hyphens are not used frequently, if at all, there are cases where product names include these (either directly or through a variable) to prevent awkward line breaks of cross-references (which cannot be adjusted manually).

Previous releases of FrameMaker included the non-breaking hyphen in the bookmark text (displayed as a space in Acrobat 4, a box in Acrobat 5, and correctly -- as a hyphen -- in Acrobat 5.0.5).
