Bookmark Setup for Books is Unreliable
Affects: FrameMaker / FrameMaker+SGML 6.0
Description:
The Bookmark setup for books in FrameMaker 6.0 is unreliable:
- The book's bookmark setup is not used when outputting to
PostScript from the book's print function; instead, the bookmark
setup for each of the individual components is used.
- When printing from a book and accessing PDF Setup, the list
of bookmarks displayed reflects the bookmark setup for the first
component in the book, which may not be similar to the setup
in the other components.
- When updating bookmark setup through the book, regular chapters
are updated as expected, and the new bookmark setup is saved
with each chapter - which may include adding and/or removing
paragraph tags to/from the bookmark setup of the specific component).
With generated files, however, the book's bookmark setup only
adds more tags, if specified, but does not remove tags currently
specified for these generated files.
Workaround
To control the bookmark setup when outputting from FrameMaker
6.0 books:
- Actively select the bookmark setup for all components by
choosing the paragraph tags and pressing OK;
and
Open generated files independently, and set the required
bookmark setup (Format > Document > PDF Setup).
