About... me (Shlomo Perets)

I have worked in electronic publishing since 1983, in the fields of production, training, R&D and consulting. I Initially developed computer programs to output directories and financial magazines using phototypesetters, using FORTRAN and Pascal. Fascinated with type, I became involved with ad typography (Quadex) and batch composition systems (QPO and XyVision).

I made the switch to desktop publishing in 1989, starting with Ventura Publisher 1.1 on PC. From 1991 to 1993, I published the MicroType newsletter, focusing on DTP and graphics issues.

Since 1993 I have focused primarily on FrameMaker and online documentation applications. I developed the FrameMaker-to-Acrobat TimeSavers and its extensions (Navigation, Form, Default, Presentation, Multimedia and 3D Assistants). I regularly offer advanced FrameMaker and Acrobat courses, both on-site and public, in the USA, Europe and Israel.
